Debate Team 2026

Our Debate team is having a wonderful year once again. In October, Aurora Halley and Liam Tran qualified for state competition in their first qualifying match in October. They are part of the Public Forum category. Varshini Durga also qualified in October for the Impromptu category, where students are given a random topic, then have two minutes to prepare a five minute speech. This past Saturday, the entire team competed again in an online forum and Avery Palmer placed 4th, with Samone Sharma placing 10th in Impromptu, guaranteeing them each a spot at state, as well. There will be two more matches before state on April 18-19, and we hope to have several more students qualify. Mrs. Perini was so proud of our entire team, who gave up their Saturday to sit at PRMS all day and debate back and forth. She noted also that the team faced students from gifted academies, prep schools, and magnate schools across Florida. Our Panthers continually rise to the occasion. Other members of the team include: Nora Rumman, Edith Manso Leon, Victoria Saunders, Logan Daniels, Grayson Howe, Alex McLaughlin, Lillian Murphy, and Alex Alley. Congratulations!
